LOUIS VAN GAAL's position at Manchester United has become precarious.
The Dutchman, who guided United to the top of the table earlier in the season, is contracted until 2017.
But United seem to have been sniffing around Europe's elite coaches and weighing up their options.
Reports today claimed they had been in touch with Carlo Ancelotti to see if he would take over in the summer.
Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri was also forced to address speculation he was being lined up.
The Italian, however, claimed he was happy in Turin.
"I'm very happy to coach Juventus," he said.
"And I remain fully focused on achieving the very important objectives we have here."
Gary Neville was today unveiled as Valencia head coach, but Rio Ferdinand has backed him to return to Old Trafford if he's successful.
And Pep Guardiola is still to make his mind up on next season.
So who could take over at Old Trafford? We look at the favourites.

The situation
Guardiola is regarded as the No.1 coach in the world, particularly with Jose Mourinho's decline this season.
He's wanted by United and rivals Manchester City, but could still stay put in Munich.
He would cost nothing in compensation with his contract up in the summer and would invigorate any side.
His commitment to an attacking style would also appeal to the United hierarchy.

Van Gaal reckons Ryan Giggs will take his place in 2017 after three years as an assistant.
He also worked with David Moyes and was caretaker/player manager for the final four games after the Scot was sacked.
Knows the club through and through after spending his entire playing career at Old Trafford.

The situation
The appointment of Neville at Valencia was a shock but how far he can go now is up to him.
Already improved his credentials for the United or England job after stepping away from Sky and into this role.
But learning the ropes in Spain will be difficult with language and cultural barriers to battle against.
Has become renownd as one of the most astute minds in football with his analysis on TV but translating that onto the pitch is the big challenge.

The situation
Ancelotti is a free man after leaving Real Madrid in the summer.
One of the top coaches in world football with three European cups to his name and having managed in Italy, France, Spain and England - delivering everywhere.
Reports today suggested United had made contact with Bayern Munich also thought to be keen if Guardiola leaves.
Is definitely keen to work in England again.

The situation
Man United got it wrong when replaced Sir Alex Ferguson. Jose Mourinho should have got it rather than David Moyes.
The Scot was binned within a season and Mourinho got his Chelsea side to the title after two.
He's struggling now though and could be available this summer - do United dare push the boat out this time?
