MANUEL NEUER has congratulated Petr Cech on his record-breaking achievement.
The Arsenal shot-stopper broke the record for the most clean sheets in the top flight after the Gunners recorded a 2-0 victory against Bournemouth yesterday.
An impressive display at the Emirates Stadium saw the 33-year-old collect his 170th clean sheet in 352 League appearances, surpassing the record set by David James of 169 in 220 fewer games.
Cech, who moved from rivals Chelsea in the summer, received numerous messages of praise from fellow team-mates including Didier Drogba and Frank Lampard.
But the Czech Republic international will take great pride in receiving a special mention from Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer.
The German gave Cech some words of advice and joked that he wouldn't be able to beat his record anytime soon.
“Petr, I just wanted to congratulate you on your record,” said the 29-year-old. “I can promise that I won’t be able to break it – I’m a bit too old for that and I don’t think I’ll play so many years in the Premier League!
“All I can say is hats off for breaking this record and I would like to give you one tip: Extend it, play for as long as you can. I know you’re a bit older now but I hope for you that your body allows you to have many more years in the Premier League and at Arsenal.”
