Manchester United want to sign Robert Lewandowski in January |
MANCHESTER UNITED are prepared to break the bank to land Robert Lewandowksi, according to reports.
The Poland star has been in stunning form this season, scoring 15 goals in 15 appearances in the Bundesliga.
And United are determined to seal a marquee signing after a disappointing summer of business in the transfer market.
Louis van Gaal is understood to be looking into how to make United tick up front with their struggles in front of goal this season.
And Lewandowski has become one of the top strikers in Europe over the last few seasons.
He joined Bayern Munich from rivals Borussia Dortmund in 2014 but has not always seen eye to eye with manager Pep Guardiola.
And reports in Germany, from SportBild, claim United are willing to match a £10.9million-a-year offer from Paris Saint-Germain to seal his services.
United's current striking duo, Wayne Rooney and Anthony Martial, have struggled to set the world alight despite a decent start from the young Frenchman.
United were knocked out of the Champions League and sit fourth in the Premier League, six points behind leaders Leicester, approaching the halfway stage.
Van Gaal's future is being discussed with fans growing concerned over his style of play.
And, while he has been able to point to results to back him up, United are currently five games without a win in all competitions.
