The Colombian international has been linked with a move away from the San Siro after struggling to maintain a regular starting spot for the Serie A side.
And according to Spanish publication Fichajes, both Premier League clubs are willing to offer him a way out of Italy.
 
Zapata's contract expires in the summer meaning Milan could be forced to cash in on the 29-year-old in January.
The defender spent six years at Italian club Udinese before completing a season-long loan move to Villareal in 2011.

Zapata has made just eight appearances for Milan this season that has seen him register one goal - coming against his former side Udinese in their 3-2 win in September.
The Milan defender has 39 caps for his country and has featured heavily in Colombia's bid to qualify for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
