Manchester United are monitoring Nicolas Gaitan very closely, according to reports.
Louis van Gaal has made it clear his desire to add some pacey wingers to his squad.
Memphis has failed to justify his £25million fee, and according to Portuguese paper Record, United sent scouts to Portugal to watch Gaitan in action for Benfica.
Gaitan is a long-standing target for United and was chased by Louis van Gaal over the summer.
 
is also thought Arsenal are keeping a close eye on the Argentine as their squad has been decimated by injuries.
Thomas Muller has verbally agreed a new deal to stay at Bayern Munich, according to reports.
The 26-year-old was on United’s radar over the summer and it was thought they lodged a £60m bid for his services.
Muller is currently contracted with the Bavarian giants until 2019, but German publication Kicker claim he will extend his present deal until 2021.
 
It is suggested the paperwork for the contract will soon follow.
Jesse Lingard wasn’t hard to spot for a former Manchester United scout.
Lingard, who spent loan spells at Leicester, Birmingham, Brighton and Derby, caught Mike Glennie’s eye 15 years ago.

Glennie, who now works as the co-ordinator of United’s development centre, said: “People look for intricate things but, with Jesse, it was simple.
“He affected the game and he could clearly play.”
