Lucas Leiva is revelling under Jurgen Klopp |
LIVERPOOL midfielder Lucas Leiva has played down talk of a potential title challenge despite their excellent recent form.
The Reds are one of the in-form teams in the country after winning their last four matches in all competitions, including two emphatic away victories over Manchester City and Liverpool.
They are just four points off a top-four place and six behind Premier League leaders City.
Jurgen Klopp's rejuvenation of the Liverpool side has led to talk of contending for the league title but Lucas is remaining modest about their chances.
He told Sky Sports: "It’s always the same. You have a few good wins and people start to talk again.
"I think, very honestly, we just go game-by-game and we are still developing as a team.
"Of course we are in a good moment, in good shape – everyone is getting back from injury.
"Let’s see what it will take until the end of the season, but of course if we keep performing like this for sure we are going to win more games than lose."
