Jose Mourinho was axed from his position as Chelsea boss yesterday |
LUIS FIGO has offered his best wishes to Jose Mourinho following his sacking from Chelsea.
The Portuguese boss was given the boot by Roman Abramovich yesterday following a dismal start to the season.
Chelsea have struggled to replicate the form of last season that saw them crowned Premier League champions - they sit 16th and one point above the drop zone.
And Figo, who played under Mourinho at Inter Milan, admits he is sad to see his former manager axed from Stamford Bridge.
"It is sad news, [I am] disappointed of course because like a good friend of Jose I only wish the best for him," the 43-year-old said at the Kuwait Champions Challenge as quoted by Goal.
"But it is the life of coaches, it depends on the results. At the same time it is disappointing because you are champions and this year you are in this situation.
Guus Hiddink is expected to take charge of Chelsea until the end of the season |
"But the quality of Jose in being a coach, no one is doubting about that. I think it is [just] a bad period of results. I send my best wishes to him, to pass this negative period."
Guus Hiddink is expected to take charge of the Blues until the end of the season.
