DANNY WARD is hoping his good form on loan at Aberdeen can earn him a shot at the Liverpool number one shirt.

Liverpool youngster sends message to Simon Mignolet over No 1 shirt
Ward has impressed for Aberdeen, and wants to prove himself in the Premier League

Ward joined Liverpool from non-league Wrexham at the age of 19, but has yet to make an appearance for the senior side at Anfield.
After a brief spell at Morecambe last season, the Welshman was signed on loan by Aberdeen over the summer where he has excelled, ever-present as the Dons have surged to within a point of league leaders Celtic.
And while his current priorities are north of the border, Ward has his long-term sights set on the number one shirt at Liverpool, currently occupied by Belgian stopper Simon Mignolet.

“It is definitely an ambition of mine to be Liverpool's first-choice,” Ward told the Mail Online
“I have a self-belief where I think I can play at the highest level. Ideally that's at Liverpool, that would be fantastic.
“They gave me a new long-term contract before I came up. I took it to mean they think I have got a chance. Long term, I would love to be their No 1.

“For now it's about me taking the right steps and impressing for Aberdeen game-by-game.”
It is an approach that is bearing fruit for Ward: only Celtic have conceded fewer goals than the Dons this year, and the Liverpool keeper’s nine clean sheets leads the league.
And while Aberdeen may seem a long way from Merseyside, the 22-year-old loanee has been making sure new Reds boss Jurgen Klopp knows exactly who he is.
“I am in regular contact with the Liverpool goalkeeping coach John Achteberg, we will speak a couple of times a week,” Ward added.

“The scouting department, who look after loan players at Liverpool, also have a good connection with the staff with Aberdeen.
“I met the new manager (Klopp) after the last international break for an introduction and to see what he did in training, get a feeling for his way of working.
“It was brilliant to get my face in there. I was there for two days, two sessions, then back up at Aberdeen for that weekend.”
