JURGEN KLOPP is doing all he can to try and fix Daniel Sturridge's injury woes.
The striker has started only once since the German's arrival on Merseyside having suffered from an ongoing hamstring injury.
Sturridge's earliest estimated return date is expected to be their FA Cup third-round tie against Exeter on January 8.
Klopp admits he has to be patient with the 26-year-old before putting him back into the first-team fold and is hoping his own 'pre-season' programme over the busy festive period will aid his recovery.
"We think it is a brave decision," Klopp said. "Usually, everybody would say: 'Play. Try as long as you can' And the next week we’d have the same problem.
"Everything has been tried in the past, now we do something different. We have to see how he reacts to training like this.
"There is no decision for how long, whether it is 10 days, 14 days, but not for Saturday."
While Klopp awaits the return of the England international, the 48-year-old is planning to utilise Christian Benteke to his advantage.
"Christian has trained well this week and we’ve had a good talk together. We know what he has to do and he knows what he has to do," Klopp added.
"Christian’s biggest strength is heading so everyone is waiting for crosses. But often in the Premier League you have two high towers, centre-halves, in the box so you can’t always wait for that. That is only one situation in offence.
"We need to create more moments for all our offensive players. We need to push up from centre midfield more and get into the box to create more opportunities.
"We need more movements together. That’s what I said."
The Reds take on league leaders Leicester at Anfield this afternoon (3pm).
