| Arda Turan is not yet eligible to play for Barcelona |
MANCHESTER UNITED had a bid for Arda Turan rejected by Atletico Madrid, his agent has confirmed.
The Turkey international's representative Ahmet Bulut admitted the Red Devils did approach Atletico but they didn't want to sell.
Instead, Bulut has revealed he was in secret talks with Barcelona the whole time - a deal that did actually complete.
Turan signed for the Catalan side over the summer, but has been unable to link up with his new club due to Barca's transfer embargo.
The 28-year-old is understood to have made the move for around £27million and will be eligible for his debut in January.
"Last season Manchester United made a bid for Arda but Atletico Madrid did not want him to leave," he told Turkish publication AMK.
"I was in talks with Barcelona but told nobody about it at the time."
Turan has made 127 La Liga appearances for Atletico since 2011, scoring 13 goals in the process.
