AVRAM GRANT has revealed he would have confronted Diego Costa over his antics at White Hart Lane in private.
 
Costa appeared to fling his bib in Jose Mourinho’s direction on the bench last weekend after he was dropped for the goalless draw against Tottenham.
The 27-year-old also incurred the wrath of his manager during the 4-0 Champions League win over Maccabi Tel Aviv last week, although .
And Grant, who guided Chelsea to the Champions League final in 2008, claims he would have taken Costa to one side to thrash out his issues rather than let them play out in public.
 
“It has not been an easy season for Diego Costa," Grant told Sky Sports

"On one hand you want the players to be passionate and want to play, but imagine if all the players took off their shirts and threw them off! I don't think it would be good for the team.
"Publicly, I would not say anything but I would tell him face-to-face what I think of his behaviour and what he needs to do better to play."
