THE Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has been named Game of the Year at the 2015 Game Awards.
CD Projekt RED’s exciting role-playing adventure scooped top prize ahead of Fallout 4, Metal Gear Solid 5, Bloodborne and Super Mario Maker.
The Witcher 3 was one of 2015’s most anticipated games and delivered on every front following its release in May, holding a 9/10 rating on Steam.
CD Projekt RED also went on the scoop the award for Developer of the Year, while PlayStation 4 favourite Rocket League was named Best Independent Game.
Meanwhile, Lara Croft Go picked up the Best Mobile/Handheld Game award, with No Man’s Sky seeing off competition from Horizon Zero Dawn, Quantam Break, The Last Guardian and Unchartered 4 to be named Most Anticipated Game.
Surprisingly, Halo 5 failed to land any awards, missing out on Best Multiplayer and Best Shooter to Splatoon while also seeing Metal Gear Solid 5 land Best Score/Sountrack.
Fallout 4 was another to go home empty-handed despite being tipped by many as a real contender for Game of the Year, with Bethesda’s masterpiece also losing out to The Witcher 3 for Best Role Playing Game.
