Everton ace Romelu Lukaku: Why I'm thankful to axed Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho
Romelu Lukaku is in great form for Everton

ROMELU LUKAKU has thanked Jose Mourinho for allowing him to leave Chelsea and join Everton.

The Belgian was signed by the Blues in 2011 from Anderlecht but failed to score in his 15 appearances.
He joined Everton for £28million in 2014 where he had spent the previous season on loan and this campaign he became the first Toffees player to score in six consecutive Premier League matches and notched his 50th goal in just 100 games.

Speaking before Mourinho was dismissed by Chelsea, Lukaku said he was thankful for being allowed to leave.
He told Football Focus: "I wanted to play and get minutes under my belt.

"I never got the chance to say it but I would say thank you to Jose Mourinho.
"I had one conversation with him a few days before I left and I told him I wanted to go and I think he saw in my eyes that I really needed to play because it was the year of the World Cup.
"He was the one who gave me the green light to go."
