ATLETICO MADRID president Enrique Cerezo has refused to rule out a shock return to the Vicente Calderon for Diego Costa.
The Spanish striker has had a difficult season at Chelsea, beset by disciplinary issues and poor form.
He scored twice for the Blues in their 2-2 draw with Watford yesterday but picked up a yellow card which means he will miss Monday’s clash against Manchester United.
Costa was also booed last week by his own supporters who felt he had a role in the sacking of Jose Mourinho.
And now his former club appear to have left the door open on a return to Spain for the 27-year-old.
Cerezo told Spanish channel RTVE: ”Right now, Diego is a Chelsea player and he has to focus on Chelsea.
"But you never know what will happen in football and sometimes players do return to their former clubs."
