NEMANJA MATIC threw down the gauntlet to Manchester United ahead of their clash on Monday.
Chelsea slipped to a 2-2 draw with Warford this afternoon with a Diego Costa double, Troy Deeney and Odion Ighalo responding and Oscar missing a penalty late on.
United has lost 2-0 to Stoke earlier in what looks like Louis van Gaal's final game in charge.
And Chelsea midfielder Matic admitted the team was frustrated not to capitalise in the final moments ahead of the big clash on December 28.
"We wanted to win today," he said.
"It’s not a good result for us, we are sad, we wanted three points. But this is football and you never know what will happen.
"We had a penalty which we didn't score, we were unlucky. Oscar has to keep his head up because these things can happen. I’m sure he will score the next one.
"Manchester United [who Chelsea play on Monday] are always very difficult and in three days we are playing two games. We have to cope with that but we will be ready I am sure."
