LEE CARSLEY has left Brentford after appearing to pay the price for putting his neck on the block.
Carsley helped get Brentford back on track having stepped in on a caretaker basis in September.
His 10-game reign ended when Dean Smith was hired last week. But instead of returning to his old Under-21 development job, the coaching position was filled during his brief stay in the hot-seat.
Carsley, 41, has now opted to leave ahead of Saturday's west London derby at Fulham.
Brentford's director of football Rasmus Ankersen said: "Lee performed a vital role in stabilising the training ground environment after a difficult start to the current season.
"When Lee suggested his work at the club was done, we were happy to let him go."
Paul Clement has challenged Derby to end Brighton's 19-game unbeaten in the game of the day the iPro Stadium.
Leaders Brighton are the only team in the country still to taste defeat this season, but Clement believes his in-form side have the momentum to finally bring an end to their run.
"The big challenge for us is to be the ones that end their run," said the Derby manager.
"It will be a test for Brighton coming to our stadium because we've won five in a row here."
Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink takes charge of QPR for the first time as they welcome Burnley. Rangers are under achieving in mid-table and Hasselbaink said: "It's a squad that excites me."
Elsewhere, second-placed Middlesbrough host Birmingham while promotion-chasing Hull will fancy getting back on track against crisis club Bolton
Cardiff meet fellow play-off hopefuls Sheffield Wednesday, Ipswich travel to MK Dons in the day's early kick-off and managerless Reading travel to Preston.
Charlton and fellow strugglers Bristol City face Leeds and Huddersfield respectively.
