Arsene Wenger reveals move for Premier League rival midfielder
Yann M'Vila was a transfer target for Arsenal
ARSENE WENGER has revealed he attempted to sign Sunderland loanee Yann M'Vila before he moved to the Premier League.

The 25-year-old was one of the most highly rated midfielders in Ligue 1 when he was with Rennes.
And his appearances attracted the attention of Wenger, who was keen to bring the Frenchman to the Premier League.

"We were interested in him when he was in France and the year we wanted to bring him in, Rennes did not want to sell him," he explained.
M'Vila subsequently moved to Russian side Rubin Kazan in 2013 after a spell of injuries and was loaned to the Black Cats over the summer.

And the Arsenal boss admitted he's been impressed by what he's seen from the France international so far this season.
"He had a few off-the-field problems, but it looks like now he's stabilised," he added.

"And he's of course a very good player who is a regular player in the national team in France."
The Gunners are in need of a defensive midfielder and M'Vila would certainly be a good fit if Wenger decided to renew his interest.
