ARSENE WENGER believes Arsenal's inability to deal with Southampton's physicality cost them as they were beaten 4-0 at the St Mary's.

Arsene Wenger was unhappy with his side's performance

The Gunners could have gone top of the Premier League with a win but they never got going on a blustery evening on the south coast.
Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny were rattled by Shane Long and Sadio Mane's pace by Mesut Ozil couldn't influence proceedings thanks to an excellent performance by rumoured transfer target Victor Wanyama.
After the match, Wenger had no complaints about the result.
He told BT Sport: "We lost too many challenges today, they were sharper than us. I think we were unlucky as well, their first shot on goal went into the top corner from the right back, the second goal came after a foul on Koscielny.
"It's a disappointing result but I have to say well done to Southampton. The referee let a lot go but when you're not dominant in challenges that is the price you have to pay.
"The title is down to consistency to fight in every single game and produce a performance. Today was a very physical game and we didn't play well enough."
