Jose Mourinho and Louis van Gaal are both feeling the heat |
Both the Chelsea and Manchester United bosses find their positions under threat going into key Champions League games.
United were booed off after their 0-0 draw with West Ham on Saturday, their fourth goalless draw in their past six games, and need victory over Wolfsburg tomorrow night (7.45pm) to secure qualification for the knockout stages in Europe.
Mourinho is feeling the heat at Chelsea again after a 1-0 home loss to Bournemouth ahead of their meeting with Porto on Wednesday.
And the prospect of both managers being sacked before the Premier League returns on Saturday has been priced at 12/1 by bookmakers Ladbrokes.
The odds of one manager leaving his post by the next league game are a short 5/4 while the more likely price of 4/7 says they will both stay in their jobs.
In head-to-head betting Mourinho is tipped to leave first at 2/7 while Van Gaal is 5/2 to be axed before the Portuguese.
News News Blog Sport understands Van Gaal will not be under threat even if United crash out of the Champions League this week.
And while there would be enormous pressure on Mourinho should Chelsea exit Europe's elite club competition, his side need just a draw to progress.
Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes said: "Both managers are heading into critical Champions League ties and the odds of at least one failing to survive look short."
