Branislav Ivanovic could sign a new contract with Chelsea |
BRANISLAV INVANOVIC will "probably" sign a new contract at Chelsea, according to his agent.
The Blues defender has come under fire this season for a string of poor displays.
He has paid with his place in the starting line up on a number of occasions but his representative, Zoran Krneta, insists he wants to stay, despite reports he is set to move to Inter Milan when his contract expires next summer.
The Serbia international was seemingly surplus to requirements after coming in for heavy criticism from fans and manager Jose Mourinho.
But he could perform a shock u-turn by extending his stay at Stamford Bridge.
"Probably he will renew his deal with Chelsea,” Krneta told InterLive.it. "Rumours about Inter? In football everything is possible.
“Anyway, the Nerazzurri could be interested to him for the summer market and not the winter one.”
Ivanovic has been a star since signing from Lokomotiv Moscow for a fee in the region of £9million in January 2008.
He has since made 326 appearances in all competitions, scoring 31 goals from defence.
A multiple trophy winner, the 31-year-old has won the Premier League on two occasions, the FA Cup three times, the League Cup and the Champions League.
