TYSON FURY has warned he will not fight Wladimir Klitschko if he does not have the right gloves for the heavyweight showdown.
Fury, 27, is scheduled to take on WBA, IBF, IBO and WBO champion Klitschko, 39, in Dusseldorf on Saturday night.
But the British challenger yesterday revealed that a row over gloves with the Klitschko camp could cause chaos in this week.
Fury, the Manchester-born traveller, is contracted to wear Paffen branded gloves as part of the deal for the fight. But the self-proclaimed 'Gypsy King' refused to wear the first pair that were sent over to England for him to try out.
He demanded the gloves be changed as he felt his thumbs were going to get broken because of the design.
And although he was happy with the second pair that was sent out there are that adaptions may not be ready in time.
He said: "They sent me some gloves over which Wladimir had asked for and they had big giant thumbs which were about two or three inches bigger than normal so that the thumb is sticking out.
"Every time I was punching with them my thumb was nearly breaking.
"No matter how we tried breaking them in, it wasn't working. I was hurting my hands all the time.
"We phoned the guys there and they said 'These are the gloves Klitschko has asked for and he won't be happy if we give him any other gloves'.
"I said 'How can I box in gloves I'm not comfortable wearing?' They sent me another style with normal thumbs which seemed to be okay.
"But then they said 'Oh it's going to be a struggle to make these gloves in time'. They are still not made.
"It doesn't matter if it's mind games or genuine. If there are no gloves, I'm not fighting, am I?
"If they don't get me the right gloves, I will not fight. Simple.
“I either get the gloves I want or there’s no fight. Alternatively, we can do it bare-knuckle!”
Fury has a history of run-ins with the British Boxing Board of Control over controversial comments but he was happy that General Secretary Robert Smith stepped in to support him this time.
He added: "Robert Smith said 'You need to make them on time because it's not fair to have a fighter boxing in gloves he isn't comfortable with in a world title fight'.
"So they did step forward on that issue. I hope he stamps his authority on them and makes them get the gloves we've asked for and which they've said they can do.
"But you don't get your gloves in advance, so I won't know until the rules meeting after the weigh-in.
"If I don't get the gloves I've been promised - and Robert Smith has said the gloves need to be made - it's like coming into a ring with no shoes on. It's not going to be sanctioned."
It is the latest obstacle the Klitschko camp have put down for Fury, who has been told he is only allowed six people with him at today's head-to-head and Friday's weigh-in.
The Klitschko camp do not want a repeat of the London press conference to announce the fight which saw a large number of Fury's friends and family heckle the defending world champion.
Meanwhile, David Haye is set to announce his January comeback today at a press conference but Fury is not bothered by his Brit rival' return.
He added: "You can't even mention that man's name on the same lines as me because he ain't a man, he's a fairy and fairies have no place in boxing."
