The one that you want? TV execs give green light for LIVE Grease remake
Julianne Hough and Aaron Tveit will play Sandy and Danny
GREASE is the word once again, with the smash hit movie to be remade 38 years after stars John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John danced their way into film folklore.

The 1950s set musical will be reborn as a one-off, three-hour TV special that will air live in the US in January and be rebroadcast in the UK later next year.
Both Travolta, 61, and Newton-John, 67, are expected to be among VIPs in the studio audience as a new pair of stars aim to re-create their chemistry from the 1978 original.
The duo wowed audiences worldwide in their roles as high school sweethearts Danny Zuko and Sandy Olsson.

The lead stars in Grease Live will be Aaron Tveit, 32, who starred in the 2012 movie adaptation of Les Miserables, and Julianne Hough, 27, a two-time champion of hit show Dancing With The Stars, the US version of Strictly Come Dancing.
Grease is one of the most beloved musical stories ever told and we can’t wait to bring it to air in a live event

With box office receipts of almost £265million, Grease remains the highest-grossing musical film, with its soundtrack album, featuring the hit You’re The One That I Want, also a huge success.
The original big screen version cost £4million to make, less than a third of the TV budget US station Fox has allocated for the live performance on Sunday, January 31.
Hough said: “We will be trying to fill some pretty big shoes, so it’s going to be exciting but more than a little nerve-racking. Sandy is such an iconic role in such an iconic musical that I’m determined to do it justice.
