JESSE LINGARD has been hailed as England's version of Barcelona star Andres Iniesta, by former Manchester United first-team coach Rene Meulensteen.
Lingard has enjoyed a breakthrough campaign after injuries and numerous loan spells limited his minutes at Old Trafford.
The 22-year-old has played in United's last eight games and grabbed his first goal for the club against West Brom.
And he was also called up to the England squad by Roy Hodgson last week for the friendlies against Spain and France.
Meulensteen, who worked under Sir Alex Ferguson for five years, compared the young attacker the decorated Barcelona midfielder.
"I see him as the English version of Iniesta," Meulensteen told United Review.
"He has still got a long way to go but that is the sort of player I see in him."
