Ruud van Nistelrooy reacts to Jamie Vardy's record-breaking goal for Leicester

Jamie Vardy has now scored in 11 consecutive Premier League games

RUUD VAN NISTELROOY has sent his best wishes to Jamie Vardy as the Leicester striker surpassed his Premier League goal-scoring record.

Vardy broke the former Manchester United striker's record as he became the first player to score in 11 consecutive Premier League matches.

And the Dutchman couldn't be happier, claiming the former Fleetwood player 'deserves it'.

 

"Well done @vardy7! You're number one now and you deserved it," he wrote on Instagram.

The Leicester striker netted in the first half of his side's game against Manchester United.

 

Dutchman Van Nistelrooy achieved his feat for Manchester United across two seasons in 2003.

The goal also makes the 28-year-old the league's top scorer with 14 goals in total.
