Raheem Sterling admits he's 'glad' to be at Manchester City |
RAHEEM STERLING has admitted he's glad to be at Manchester City after a tricky move away from former club Liverpool.
The 20-year-old refused a new contract at Anfield over the summer, and was subsequently labelled a 'money grabber' after making a £50million move to City.
Sterling's agent Aidy Ward has since blamed Brendan Rodgers for the ill feeling surrounding his move and said he would have singed a new deal had he not acted in the way he did.
"Raheem could've stayed, he should be at Liverpool, I think for me it was like he was being told to be a good boy and sign a contract," he told the Daily Mail.
"There was an underhandedness, there were sly remarks. In press conferences, Brendan told everyone Raheem would sign - why do that?
"I knew, Brendan knew and Liverpool knew there was an issue. Right now he probably should be a Liverpool player, but he's not and he's in a great place at City."
And the England international has since echoed his agent's remarks, claiming he's 'glad' to be at the Etihad and scoring goals.
Sterling has praised the pedigree of the players at Manchester City |
"It's great to be part of this squad and with the players we've got I'm learning every day," he said.
"I'm just glad to be here and to be able to take part in football matches like this one."
Sterling has scored six goals for his new club, netting his first ever Premier League hat-trick in the 5-1 win over Bournemouth.
