David Wagner is set to take over from Chris Powell at Huddersfield |
DAVID WAGNER is set to turn down a job at Liverpool to take over at Huddersfield, according to reports.
The former Borussia Dortmund under-23 coach was expected to join Jurgen Klopp at Anfield.But in a sensational twist the American now looks set to replace Chris Powell, who was sacked this morning.Wagner left his role at Dortmund earlier this week saying he wanted a fresh challenge.And having been best man at Klopp's wedding he was expected to follow Zeljko Buvac and Peter Krawietz.But, according to the Telegraph, he will be confirmed as the new Huddersfield boss within 48 hours."Borussia Dortmund are an extraordinary club with fantastic fans," said Wagner in a statement this week."In spite of that I seek a new sporting challenge after a great time at Dortmund." Powell's reign ended this morning after just 14 months following a 2-2 draw with Reading.He became the fifth Championship boss sacked this term after Marinus Dijkhuizen, Steve Evans, Uwe Rosler and Guy Luzon were all axed.
