PHILIP COCU hopes Manchester United fans will be kind to Hector Moreno when his side visit Old Trafford tonight (7.45pm).
Last time the two sides met, the Dutch side recorded a 2-1 victory over the Red Devils, but the game was overshadowed by a horrific injury to Luke Shaw.
The England international suffered a double-leg break following a challenge from Moreno that has left Shaw sidelined for several months.
PSV fans are expected to unveil a 'get well soon' banner for Shaw in tonight's Group B clash, and Cocu hopes the Old Trafford faithful won't be too harsh on the Mexican defender.
"I hope not," the PSV boss said when asked if he thought Moreno would be booed.
"It was a very bad injury. Hopefully Luke Shaw will get back soon.
"He is a fantastic player. The most important thing will be that he is back on his feet shortly, joining the team and playing for Manchester United, but we don't know what will happen tomorrow in the game."
As Shaw continues to recover from his injury, Louis van Gaal has given the 20-year-old four days off while his team-mates continue as normal.
"The first reason was that he was fed up with the daily routine," said Van Gaal. "And the second reason I thought 'Why he is fed up?'
"Maybe it is because of the match of PSV and every player has to watch the game from the stadium to support their colleagues.
"So I give him four days off, but on Friday he has a scan and then we will know more about how the injury is going. I don't think he will be at the game, but I don't know."
