MANCHESTER UNITED are preparing a bid for Wolfsburg defender Ricardo Rodriguez, according to reports.
The Switzerland international is one of the most highly rated left-backs in the world and has attracted attention from a number of top clubs.
His performances in the 2014 World Cup significantly raised his stock, as he helped the Swiss reach the last 16 of the tournament.
Subsequently United were linked with a move for him over the summer, and reports in Spain suggested Real Madrid were also keen on the 23-year-old.
The defender's agent previously claimed the Red Devils had made contact with Wolfsburg about a £21.5million move.
And now reports have surfaced that Louis van Gaal will once again move for the full-back in the January transfer window.
German newspaper Bild claim they will have to come with a renewed offer however, with a fee of £30m being suggested.
United are in desperate need of reinforcements at left-back with Luke Shaw sidelined for months with a broken leg and Antonio Valencia also having foot surgery.
