PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN are planning to blow Manchester United away in the pursuit of Cristiano Ronaldo, according to reports.
PSG are determined to land Ronaldo and are prepared to offer him a staggering £250,000-a-week contract after tax.
That is according to the Daily Mirror, who claim the Portugal striker will be handed the big-money contract as a carrot for rejecting United.
Were United to match that offer they would have to agree a £500,000-a-week contract with Ronaldo due to the UK's 50 per cent top rate of tax.
That would equate to shelling out £26million each year on their former star.
Old Trafford manager Louis van Gaal said last week that he wants to sign Ronaldo.
The 30-year-old striker has broken numerous goalscoring records since his £80m switch from United to Real Madrid in 2009.
But he is reportedly seeking a way out, with an unnamed Barcelona player telling Spanish press after Saturday's Clasico that he is unhappy with life at the club.
He would become PSG's highest-paid player, trumping Zlatan Ibrahimovic's £220,000-a-week after tax earnings.
PSG are flush with cash after being told by UEFA that Financial Fair Play sanctions are unlikely to be dished out in the near future.
President Nasser Al-Khelaifi immediately moved to sign £44m winger Angel Di Maria from United last summer when UEFA lifted their spending embargoes on the Ligue 1 champions.
And it is understood Real would want around £60m for their star Ronaldo.
As for United, their top earner, Wayne Rooney, currently picks up £300,000 each week before tax is deducted.
Rooney is the highest-paid player in the Premier League, with Manchester City's Sergio Aguero and Yaya Toure on £240,000 for seven days work.
