Man Utd News: Owen slams defender, player's partner blasts club, Neville's transfer plans
Michael Owen claims he could play in Chris Smalling's position
NEWS NEWS BLOG SPORT brings you all the latest news from Old Trafford.

Michael Owen has claimed that he could do the same job as defender Chris Smalling.
The former United striker can't understand why the England international has received so much praise and believes Smalling's job is made much easier by the midfielders he has playing in front of him.
“To be so good going forward you have to commit players,” Owen said.
“With Manchester United this year and Chelsea last year, everyone was raving about John Terry’s performances last year and now everyone raves about Chris Smalling.
"I could play centre-half when I’ve got Schweinsteiger, Schneiderlin, two full-backs that don’t move and wide players that really do a good shift."

Victor Valdes' wife has slammed the club for not inviting her husband to the club's United 4 UNICEF gala.
The Spaniard has suffered a brutal regime playing under Louis van Gaal since their summer fallout that has seen Valdes banned from training with the first team.
But the latest unfolding of events has prompted the 33-year-old's wife to take to Instagram to express her disappointment at United's actions.
Yolanda Cardona posted the angry message with a photo of United's famous stars enjoying the event with their partners in attendance.

Gary Neville says United could do with signing Cristiano Ronaldo or Gareth Bale
Gary Neville believes his former club are only two more players away from creating a team that can win the Premier League title this season.
The former defender named Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale, Luis Suarez and Neymar as potential suitors for the Red Devils.
"If you put two more players into Manchester United’s team, say a Gareth Bale or a Cristiano Ronaldo into that team, that team could win the league," Neville told Sky Sports. "Because the structure that is being built at this moment in time is solid.
“But they need that match-winner, that Neymar, that Luis Suarez, the one that is going to light up a game and score one or two goals to take it away, then all of a sudden they would look like a Barcelona, because they’re dominating possession, making teams look foolish.”
