Juan Mata celebrates scoring his penalty for Manchester United |
JUAN MATA has backed Manchester United defence to remain strong "when things get tough".
United kept their fourth consecutive clean sheet in their 2-0 win over West Brom on Saturday and have the best defensive record in the league, having conceded just eight goals. The likes of Chris Smalling and Marcos Rojo have received praise for their improved performances in defence though supporters have called for a more expansive style of play under Louis van Gaal. But Mata is happy with how United are playing going into the international break and believes their football will improve. He said: "We face the international break in good spirits, feeling that we are working well and convinced that our game will get better."Besides, we got another clean sheet. Our defensive streak is very good after four consecutive Premier League games unbeaten. "Being solid will make us strong when things get tough."
