JENNIFER LOPEZ is used to having her curvaceous derrière commanding all the attention, but she was upstaged by one of her backing dancers during her performance at last night's American Music Awards.

 

The 46-year-old pop princess was joined by a bevy of beautiful back-up dancers as she kicked off the star-studded ceremony at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles.

JLo and her entourage slinked into coordinating tribal-inspired catsuits to perform a medley of this year's hit tunes including Ed Sheeran's Thinking Out Loud, Beyonce's 7/11 and Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars' Uptown Funk.

 

But the energetic routine went awry when a cringe-worthy wardrobe malfunction stole the show.

As one of the female dancers executed one of her impressive moves, she spun around to reveal that her skintight catsuit had split wide open fully revealing her pert posterior.

Eagle-eyed fans took to Twitter to share their sympathy for the red-faced performer, who's mishap was captured on camera by ABC.

"I feel so bad for JLo's dancer whose pants split," one said. "#wardrobemalfunction #JLoAMAs."

Another joked: "That dancer split her pants. What a cheeky moment."

Social media was also abuzz with speculation that Nicki Minaj was less than happy with JLo's show-stopping performance, which featured a soundbite of her track Anaconda.

As the American beauty belted out hit after hit, the camera panned to Nicki who remained straight-faced.

"Wow, that was some serious shade @Nickiminaj just threw at Jennifer Lopez," one viewer commented.

Meanwhile, truly living up to her diva reputation, Jennifer enjoyed no less than 10 outfit changes during the evening as she hosted the star-studded awards ceremony. 

From demure ball gowns to sheer embellished dresses, the starlet put on an eye-popping display as she proudly flaunted her age-defying figure and impressed the fashion pack.
