Michael Carrick is carried on a stretcher off the pitch |
MICHAEL CARRICK faces a long injury lay-off after he left the field on a stretcher for England in Spain last night.
The Manchester United went down awkwardly late on and looked in major discomfort.
After the match, England boss Roy Hodgson suggested the 34-year-old may have suffered ligament damage.
He said: "Michael has got a severely twisted ankle which normally means ligament damage.
"We won't know that of course until he's had an X-ray or a scan, but it doesn't look good."
Carrick will almost certainly miss England's friendly with France on Tuesday, if the scheduled match goes ahead. The fixture is in doubt after a last night's terror attacks in Paris.
Following the international break, Manchester United face Watford on November 21 and PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League four days later at Old Trafford.
