GIANFRANCO ZOLA has revealed where it's all gone wrong for his former club Chelsea this season.
Jose Mourinho's side currently languish in 16th place in the Premier League standings after claiming just three wins in the opening 12 games of their title defence.
And Zola believes the Blues have struggled due to the poor form of key forwards Diego Costa and Eden Hazard, who have scored just two league goals between them so far.
The Italian has also been disappointed with the efforts of the Chelsea back line, but has faith in the squad's ability to turn their campaign around.
"There is one compelling reason for the poor start to the season," Zola, who spent seven years at Stamford Bridge between 1996 and 2003, said of his former club.
"The poor form of key offensive players Eden Hazard and Diego Costa has not helped. Defensively as well the team has dropped the standards set last year.
"The players have lost confidence as a group and this has led to poor results. The club has it in them to turn around their fortunes."
