United looked blunt up front, with Wayne Rooney a lonely figure in attack and Anthony Martial ineffective on the left wing.

Even the introduction of Marouane Fellaini did little to inspire a late surge and Yohan Cabyae might have stolen all three points as the game drew to a close.
