Frank Lampard gives Chelsea fans the thumbs up at Stamford Bridge
FRANK LAMPARD has suggested a lack of leaders could be the reason behind Chelsea's awful start to the season.
The Blues are in fifteenth place in the Premier League having made their worst start to a season under beleaguered manager Jose Mourinho. And on Saturday they crumbled to a 3-1 defeat at home to Liverpool.Reflecting on match for Sky Sports, Lampard, who played 648 times for Chelsea and is their all-time leading goalscorer with 211, believes they are lacking a presence through their spine."That must be a personality thing," he said."I don’t think I’m being overly critical man by man."I know the boys, they are all good lads who want to do the right thing but some people are leaders, some people are vocal in the dressing room, some people probably show a bit more presence at certain moments on the pitch."We all know Chelsea have had that spine for quite a few years but now, you’re looking around now [at the team] and think, are they?"Meanwhile, Cesc Fabregas has denied reports he is behind a 'revolt' at Chelsea.
Chelsea's players have come under-fire for their poor displays
Reports suggested the players had abandoned manager Jose Mourinho over his treatment of former team doctor Eva Carneiro. But Fabregas has dismissed the speculation."I would like to clarify that contrary to a few reports form some online websites, I am extremely happy at Chelsea and have an excellent relationship with the manager," Fabregas wrote on Twitter."There maybe certain individuals from the outside trying to destabilise this club but I strongly believe that we will bounce back and come good again."
