Chelsea are reportedly targeting Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang |
CHELSEA have joined Liverpool and Arsenal in the race for Borussia Dortmund’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, according to reports.
The Sun on Sunday claim Jose Mourinho is chasing two new strikers, with his current front line continuing to struggle in front of goal.
Diego Costa has failed to replicate his stunning form of last season, and grabbed just his third league goal of the campaign in the 1-0 win over Norwich on Saturday, while Radamel Falcao and Loic Remy have not faired any better than the Spain international.
The Blues have instead turned their attention to the Gabon international Aubameyang, who is a target for both Arsenal and Liverpool, and will consider a £20m bid for the 26-year-old when the transfer window reopens in January.
Aubameyang is one of Europe's most in-form forwards with 23 goals in 21 appearances this season.
Chelsea will however likely see their £20m offer fail with Dortmund reportedly slapping a £42m price tag on his head.
And the player himself has reiterated a desire to play in Spain and not England.
Last month, he told BBC World Service: "Maybe one day I'll leave to play in another league because my dream is to play in Spain.
"The Premier League? Lots of people think that it would good for me but my Mum is Spanish and I really have that dream to play over there."
