AS MONACO have dismissed reports of the club making a £35million offer to prise Jose Mourinho away from Chelsea.
Mourinho's position at Stamford Bridge is under increasing pressure after a poor start to the season.Italian businessman, Alessandro Proto, claimed last week that talks had taken place about Mourinho becoming manager at Monaco. But on Tuesday, Proto revealed in a statement that the club had bid £35m but were told to pay €100m (£71m) if they wanted Mourinho."We offered €50 million to have the coach immediately, but the request was €100m and that figure seems exaggerated," Proto Enterprises said in a statement to EFE.However, Monaco have now called on the media to "not repeat extravagant and unsubstantiated rumors" from a "minority shareholder".They tweeted: "AS Monaco would invite the media to not repeat extravagant and unsubstantiated rumors from a supposedly minority shareholder."
