ARSENE WENGER was left disappointed after his side put in a careless performance in their 2-1 defeat to West Brom and failed to move to the top of the Premier League.
The Gunners took the lead through Olivier Giroud when he headed in Mesut Ozil's free-kick from the right, but James Morrison volleyed past Petr Cech to level before Mikel Arteta diverted James McClean's cross into his own net.
Santi Cazorla could have secured a point from the penalty spot, but he slipped at the crucial moment as Albion earned just their third win in 19 Premier League games against the Gunners and their first in their last 10 meetings.
To make the afternoon worse for Wenger, he lost both Francis Coquelin and Arteta to injury, and he admitted it was a bad day for the Gunners.
He told BBC Sport: "We did give everything until the end. Maybe we were a bit too sure of ourselves.
"Overall it was a bad day. We scored an own goal, missed a penalty and missed a lot of chances. It is very disappointing."
The Frenchman added the knee injury suffered by midfielder Coquelin is "more severe" than the muscle injury that forced Arteta off at the Hawthorns.
