Joel Campbell celebrates scoring Arsenal's third goal at the Liberty Stadiu |
Campbell scored his first and Arsenal's third goal in their 3-0 away win against Swansea to help the Gunners earn their fifth straight Premier League win.
Arsenal are currently experiencing an injury crisis with Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain recently adding to the long list of unavailable players, with the forwards department being a particular area which Wenger has come under criticism for.
Despite Arsenal's injury woes, Wenger reckons Campbell took his goal and his chance in the first team well.
"Campbell took his goal really well he is still a young player who had to wait for his chance," he said.
The Costa Rican international has enjoyed loan spells at Lorient, Real Betis, Olympiakos and Villarreal since joining Arsenal in 2011, and Wenger inisists these European experiences have benefited his development.
"He has adapted to Europe, been in a few league games and come back and I like his team spirit and work rate. To show he can be on the end of things as well gives him a chance."
