THE news that Brendan Rodgers had been sacked as manager of Liverpool prompted hilarious reactions from Sky Sports pundits Jamie Carragher and Thierry Henry.

Rodgers was axed just hours after his side's 1-1 draw at Everton in the Merseyside derby.
And Reds legend Carragher was given the news along with Arsenal icon Henry while the pair were preparing to pick apart the first half of the Gunners' 3-0 win over Manchester United in the Sky studio.

It appeared to take them both by surprise and the usually cool Frenchman responded by touching Carragher's leg before puffing out his cheeks.
Carragher tried his best to hide his emotions but has been one of the Northern Irsishman's harshest critics, publicly condemning Rodgers for the signings he has made this summer.

"It hasn't gone well for him this season," Carragher said.
"He had to make a good start to this season because he was maybe fortunate in terms of staying on at the end of last season.

"The staff moved on, new staff come in, he spends £70-or-£80million and then seven games later Liverpool are changing the manager.
"That's what I don't like about that. Just do it in the summer if that's the situation.

"They finished poorly when you think of the semi-final against Aston Villa... and that finish against Stoke, so he was lucky.
"But to then keep him in charge and give him that money and change the manager after seven games.
"He will have known himself he had to make a big start and he hasn't so that's where the pressure comes from."
