Sunderland boss Dick Advocaat's future up in the air ahead of West Ham clash
Dick Advocaat refused to be drawn on his future
DICK ADVOCAAT’S Sunderland future is again shrouded in doubt after the Dutchman refused to quash talk that he will quit if his struggling side lose at home to West Ham today.

The Black Cats chief gave a series of ambiguous and contradictory answers before cutting short yesterday’s press conference without clarifying his position.
But Advocaat insisted he was still the best man for the job and would remain so even if Sunderland crash to a fourth successive defeat this afternoon.

And he claimed he is still enjoying the role despite the Black Cats being anchored to the foot of the table.
Advocaat initially seemed to commit his future to the club. Asked if it was true he would go if the Hammers win, he said: “Definitely not.
“I always think in facts. The fact is it is now Friday and I am manager of Sunderland. But what will happen on Sunday or a week on Sunday or nine months on Sunday, then I will tell you the real story.

“But now I am still here. Nothing has changed.”
When asked to confirm he would be manager by the end of the weekend, Advocaat said: “The fact is you can be ill tomorrow.
“Why always talk about if, if, if. The fact is I am here and tomorrow I am here. But what happens after that? Things can change in a day, in a week, a month, nine months.

“You might not believe me but I still really like what I’m doing. This is a great club, the facilities and the stadium are great. The only thing missing are the results.”
A fortnight ago, Advocaat said he would step down if he thought another manager could do a better job than him but he was “a long, long way” from doing that.
Since then, Sunderland have lost at Bournemouth and Manchester United with a Capital One Cup defeat at home to Manchester City sandwiched in between. But Advocaat insists his self-belief remains intact. “I still think I’m the best one,” he added.
When asked if he will still believe that regardless of today’s result, he said: “Definitely."
