Scotland 2 - Poland 2: Late Robert Lewandowski goal breaks Scottish hearts
Steven Fletcher, scorer of Scotland's second, can't believe Poland's last-kick equaliser
SCOTLAND’S dream of reaching the finals was ended by an injury-time leveller from Poland striker Robert Lewandowski.

With seconds of the four added minutes remaining, Lewandowski scrambled the ball in from inches out after it rebounded from a post to break Scottish hearts.
Boss Gordon Strachan said: “I am hugely disappointed for the players. The group of lads gave as much as they could give.
“I feel a bit sorry for them, to have put so much work in and to have scored two wonderful goals. I am proud of them. They have been a bit unfortunate.”

Matt Ritchie's stunning left-foot strike pulled Scotland back to 1-1
Almost inevitably it had been Bayern Munich’s Lewandowski, who has now scored 14 goals in his last five games for club and country, who gave the visitors the lead.
But Matt Ritchie thundered in a shot from outside the box seconds from the interval, then Steven Fletcher put the home side ahead with another wonderful strike on the hour mark.

Bournemouth forward Ritchie said: “Scoring’s nice but it means nothing.”
Midfielder Darren Fletcher added: “It has been a disappointing night after how well we played. When you lose a goal like that late on it’s a real low blow to everyone in the dressing room.
“We felt we were making a lot of progress, but ultimately we failed to do what we set out to do or even make the play-offs.”
