Saints, Man City and Chelsea stars and Man Utd target on list for player of the year
Sadio Mane's fine form for Southampton has seen him nominated and linked with Manchester United
PREMIER LEAGUE stars are among the 37-strong shortlist for the African Player of the Year.
 
Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure is looking to win the award for the fifth year in a row and is joined by another 11 players from England's top tier.
Southampton's  and his fine recent form has been rewarded with a nomination.
Saints team-mate Victor Wanyama is also on the list, along with Leicester winger Riyad Mahrez, Crystal Palace star Yannick Bolasie and Swansea's summer signing Andre Ayew.
 
Chelsea winger Christian Atsu is currently on loan at Bournemouth and makes the list, as well as Mohamed Salah who is still technically a Chelsea player.
Other names on the list include Rudy Gestede (Aston Villa), Mame Biram Diouf (Stoke), Dieumerci Mbokani (Norwich) and Max Gradel (Bournemouth).
Toure's biggest threat comes in the form of Borussia Dortmund star Pierre-Emerick Aubamayeng and Bayern Munich's Mehdi Benatia.
