OnePlus X will be available next month from the firm’s website
ONEPLUS has unveiled its latest smartphone – the more compact, cheaper OnePlus X – during a press conference in central London this morning.

OnePlus announced its third smartphone – the OnePlus X – at a press event in London this morning.
The brand-new budget handset continues the firm's trend of delivering premium industrial design and components at a insanely competitive price – some £199 for the X in the UK.
Unfortunately due to the predictably high demand anticipated for the OnePlus X, the smartphone will only be available using the infamous online invite system.
Luckily the OnePlus team are planning a number of pop-up stores across the globe where users can try and buy the new phone, as well as some quick-fire, invite-free flash sales.

OnePlus’ latest boasts a pocket-sized five-inch 1080p AMOLED display, an impressive 13 megapixel rear camera with a f/2.2 aperture and an eight megapixel front-facing selfie camera.
The Chinese firm is particularly proud of its new camera, which has the fastest autofocus ever shipped in a OnePlus device.
The £199 smartphone can focus in a lightning-fast 0.2-seconds. It also boasts Auto, HDR or Clear Image modes within the OxygenOS camera app.

OnePlus is making a lot of noise about the build materials it has used in its latest smartphone, which the firm claims combines an "elevated level of craftsmanship and power."
The OnePlus X will be available in two colour variations, Onyx Black Glass as well as a limited edition and more expensive Ceramic edition.
OnePlus says it takes a full calendar month to create each ceramic backplate for the limited Ceramic edition.
However with just 10,000 Ceramic versions of the handset available worldwide, it’s probably not worth pinning your hopes on.

The latest OnePlus smartphone is firmly focused on design

The budget £199 OnePlus X is powered by a Snapdragon 801 processor with Adreno 330 GPU and some 3GB of RAM.
That should be more than enough to keep the pin-sharp display – some 441 pixels-per-inch – and custom OxygenOS running smoothly.
OnePlus X has support for two nano SIMs, which should appeal to those who travel frequently.
With a meagre 16GB of internal storage, OnePlus fans will be pleased to see the inclusion of a microSD card slot – allowing users to bump up the maximum capacity to 128GB.
The OnePlus X has a non-removable 2,525mAh battery as well as support for Bluetooth 4.0 and wifi 801.11n.
Sadly, there's no support for lightning fast 5GHz wifi. There's also a distinct lack of any fingerprint scanner or USB Type-C, too.

Starting from £199, the OnePlus X will be available in Onyx Black and Ceramic

OnePlus CEO Pete Lau said: “Today’s smartphone user strives to find the perfect balance of style and performance.
“The OnePlus X is a design-centric device - chic and powerful enough to fit any lifestyle.”
The OnePlus X Onyx will be available through the OnePlus website for those with an invite from November 5th 2015 for £199 or €269.
The limited Ceramic variation will be available to those with a specific Ceramic-specific invite in Europe and India around November 24th 2015 for £269, or €369.
