Neymar was subject to a bid from Manchester United in the summer |
MANCHESTER UNITED had a summer transfer offer for Neymar rejected by both the player and Barcelona.
Brazil striker Neymar, 23, was subject to interest from the Red Devils as manager Louis van Gaal sought to bolster his attacking options.
And his father, Neymar Snr., has revealed that a firm transfer approach was lodged with Barca officials.
"Barca received an offer from United and they said they were not willing to sell," Neymar Snr. told American Fox.
"We were asked if we were interested and we said no to them."
Discussing the player's future, his agent, Wagner Ribeiro, added: "Barca do not sell (and) have three-year contract.
"There was only an offer from United and that is now in the past."

Neymar is currently embroiled in a transfer saga with former club Santos, who claim they are entitled to compensation from Barcelona over the player's sale in 2013.
The Brazilian club have requested FIFA suspend their former player for six months and want £40million.
"Santos FC is only looking to protect their rights and obtain reparation for damages suffered," a club statement read.
"The evidence of a contractual violation and enforcement of consequences is the responsibility of FIFA's Dispute Resolution Commission, according to its statute.
"Santos FC does not hold any manner of control over what FIFA will decide in the case.
"According to FIFA bylaws, the arbitration procedure is confidential and Santos FC will not have a say during the arbitration."
