Newcastle goalkeeper Tim Krul suffered a knee injury on international duty for Netherlands
NEWCASTLE goalkeeper Tim Krul could be out for the season after suffering a knee injury while on international duty.
 
The 27-year-old was forced from the field after he fell awkwardly in the latter stages of Holland's 2-1 victory over Kazakhstan on Saturday andit is feared he has cruciate ligament damage.
Holland head coach Danny Blind reportedly described the injury as "bad" after the match, which was played on the artificial turf of the Astana Arena.
Before the extent of Krul's injury was known, he took to Twitter to thank his fans for their support.

Krul is set to miss the rest of the season after being forced off the field in the 2-1 victory
"Gutted to come off with an injury tonight. Thanks for all the get well wishes. I will know more about the extent of the injury after scans," he wrote.
Krul's potential setback is a blow for Newcastle manager Steve McClaren, particularly as second-choice goalkeeper Karl Darlow is sidelined with a foot injury.
Newcastle are bottom of the Barclays Premier League, having failed to win any of their first eight games of the season.
