Jack Colback will be out of action for up to six weeks |
NEWCASTLE midfielder Jack Colback has been ruled out for six weeks after he sustained a knee injury in Sunday's 3-0 loss to bitter city rivals Sunderland.
The 26-year-old has started nine of the 10 league games so far and his injury will come as a big blow to Newcastle, who currently languish second from bottom in the table.
The former Black Cats midfielder is likely to miss important relegation clashes with the likes of Bournemouth on November 7 and Aston Villa on December 19.
A Magpies statement read: "Jack Colback will be sidelined for up to six weeks with a knee injury, following further scans and assessment on Thursday.
"The injury is not as bad as first feared.
