JUAN MATA has heaped praise on Luis Suarez for his performance in La Liga over the weekend.
The former Liverpool striker scored a hat-trick against Eibar to ensure 10-man Barcelona took home all three points.
The win keeps the Catalans in contention with Real Madrid, although they remain in second place on goal difference.
"In Spain, Real Madrid got a commendable victory over Celta, a team that did a good job and is having a sensational start this season," Mata wrote in his weekly blog.
"Meanwhile, Barcelona had to work hard to beat Eibar. My congratulations to Luis Suarez for scoring three goals and to Eibar for showing so much courage.
Paco Alcacer was on target for Valencia this weekend |
But the former Anfield great wasn't the only player to grab Mata's attention this weekend, as Chelsea target Paco Alcacer also netted for Valencia.
"Valencia had a tough game in Madrid against Atlético. Being 2-0 down at half time in that stadium makes things even more difficult, and despite adding pressure after Alcácer’s goal, they weren’t able to tie the game."
And the Manchester United midfielder also revealed a soft spot for Rayo, praising their 'attractive and enjoyable' style.
"I also want to highlight Rayo Vallecano’s win. I really enjoy watching their games and the way they start moving the ball from the defence," he said.
"Always with quality, verticality and well-organised. That results in a football style that is very attractive and enjoyable for any neutral fan."
