Mamadou Sakho said he felt like a caged lion before playing against Everton |
LIVERPOOL defender Mamadou Sakho has revealed his frustration at being frozen out under former manager Brendan Rodgers.
The Frenchman was left out of the first five games of the season as Rodgers preferred the centre-back pairing of Martin Skrtel and Dejan Lovren.
He was brought back in to face Bordeaux in the Europa League and claims he felt like a caged animal before being unleashed at Everton on Sunday - ironically Rodgers' last game as Liverpool boss.
"Let's say that during the short period when I was not playing, I was like a little caged lion who had not been fed for a while. And when you open the door, he charges," he said.
Sakho is set for an extended run in the team thanks to an injury to Lovren.
Reports in the summer suggested the 25-year-old was unsettled and ready to quit Anfield but signed a new five-year contract instead.
He will now have to impress a new manager.

Jurgen Klopp is currently in talks to take over as Liverpool manager |
Carlo Ancelotti has also been linked with the vacant position at Anfield |
Rodgers' replacement should be in place before the trip to Tottenham on Octtober 17, with Jurgen Klopp thought to be close to taking the job.
Meanwhile, Carlo Ancelotti has also been linked with the post despite trying to distance himself by claiming he is not interested.
Klopp appears to be the fans' favourite, although numerous pundits and former players think Ancelotti would be the safer option due to his Premier League experience with Chelsea.
However, the Anfield hierarchy hope to have Klopp in place by the end of this week as talks between them and the German's representatives continue.
